The actors who are cast to play these characters make the story very familiar for everyone. Set in suburban Detroit in 1980 or Detroit Rock City as some say, the show uses extensive character development as well as tons of great music. It is all mixed with a dose of drama and morals to make comedy at its best. The realistic characters and writing techniques helped nominate and eventually win the Emmy award, for outstanding cast. Sadly, the show was cancelled after one season.

The main family on the show is the Weir family. Harold the father is played by ----. The mother, jean weir, is played by becky ann baker. Of the Weir family both freak and geek are represented; Linda Cardelinni plays Lindsay Weir and John Francis Daly plays her younger Sam Weir.
The show begins with the family eating the usual family dinner. Jean Weir is pressuring her kids to get in the spirit of Halloween. Lindsay is doomed to another year of passing out candy and Sam should be out getting candy. Both costumes of the Parents are indeed funny as they are a cowgirl and a vampire

Many of you know what you are being for Halloween this year. Just as Sam Weir knew he was going to be Name the robot from the day the earth stood still. Just as Bill knew he was going to be Bionic Woman and as Neil was going to be Charlie Chaplan.
“The great comedian Charlie Chaplin(1966) has also remarked that the function of comedy is to sharpen our sensitivity to the perversions of justice within the society in which we live.” (Ziv 358)

But it doesn’t go as everyone expects it to….

-Moms cookies get thrown out,

-Kids get egged

-Candy stolen

Ziv says in Personality and Sense Of Humor, “Humor exposes ugly human phenomena (those that render the world almost unbearable) to mockery, in the hope of thereby eliminating them.” (357)

“I’m certainly glad we all decided to celebrate Halloween, Last time I had this much fun I was pinned down in a hole by the north Koreans.” Exclaims Harold Weir played by Joe Flaherty, on the cult comedy Freaks and Geeks.

Freaks and Geeks Only lasted 18 episodes, starting in march of 1999. Its debut was on NBC but was cancelled, then picked up by fox family where it

Ultimately ended and untimely finish, ending,

Just as we always have horror stories that are almost always rumors of Kids being hurt by needles and razorblades and unwrapped candy. It was a quest that led them all the way to northeast Minneapolis, a hub of local artisans, local bars, and local yokels, and the
basement of 1101 Stinson Blvd. With a fresh coat or two of paint, a pile of huge new equipment, and a lot of work, the new space was dubbed "First Amendment," and a movement was born. As we celebrate this step forward, we invite you to become acquainted not only with our own work from the past and present, but with that of our collaborators, inspirations, and those we're honored to call friends.

Please join us on Friday, September 29th, at First Amendment: The gallery, the print shop, the movement.

1101 Stinson Boulevard, Basement Suite A & B.
7pm until your socks have been rocked right off.
No cover, all ages.

First Amendment is located just south of 35W on Stinson Boulevard at the intersection of Broadway Street Northeast on the northeast corner.
I thought it would be pretty fun to apply grammar b to an internet web log, or “Blog.” I have posted my paper at grammarb.blogspot.com

What I like about this paper is that it gets a lot of information across but cuts the formality. I especially enjoyed using the list because it is a useful tool. I also really enjoyed following in the footsteps of Lederer and using a paragraph comprised of solely one syllable words.

The hardest technique for me to try was the language variegation. I had trouble finding somewhere for it to fit.

I started my paper off with (1.) two lists, one numbered and the other a horizontal list of the shows coming up the rest of the month. I (2.) used double voice next, showing a typical conversation between a friend and me about my nasty habit. (3.) My sentence about Built to Spill on page 2 is written using all one syllable words. (4.) Right after that paragraph is my Crot. A funny quote I took from a Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players’ song. It’s especially hilarious when they have a slide projected along with it. It also contains repetition when it repeats the phrase "Look at me." (5.) The next paragraph about Ratatat is my labyrinthine sentence. (6.) The paragraph about Evangelicals is full of fragments. And lastly, (7.) my language variegation is inside my double voice quote when Adam says GaaaaaaahhhhIIImmmmsoooojealllous and Okay, okay, okayyyyyyyyy. Fin.

9-18-2006

“We’re an indie-vaudeville-canceptual-art-rock-slideshow band,” says singer/songwriter Jason Trachtenberg. “We’ve got the market cornered. The family was in full form this evening, along with their dog which they renamed George during the show. 11 year old daughter/drummer Rachel Trachtenberg held down the low end while her dad played the hits.

Speaking of family bands, The concert I am most excited about next week is happening as <st1:street><st1:address>First Avenue</st1:address></st1:Street>, Thursday night <st1:date year="2006" day="21" month="9">September 21, 2006</st1:date>. There are three bands playing. Askeleton is a local super group with members in other bands such as Ela, Heiruspecs, Big Trouble, and Mason Jennings. The Starlight Mints, who are from the same town as Evangelicals, are playing second and Mates Of State are playing last.

Mates Of State is a band of one girl, on keys, and one guy on drums. They were wed a few years ago. They have a sweet young child who they bring with them on the road when they tour. They sound great when they sing on their discs. It sounds best live when you get to see them dance and laugh. The Star-like Mints are on first when they both play next week at <st1:street><st1:address>First Ave.</st1:address></st1:Street> It’s but a buck to get in.

9-13-2006

Built to Spill is a well aged rock band with a brand new disc out this fall. Both shows at first ave this week were a great taste of their new sound. They played past tunes as well. The best old song I heard on the first night was “Stab.” Both nights crowds were pleased. The crowd the first night was too loud. The first night was free so more cats were there to get drunk. Lots of cats got in for a buck due to all the comps. A comp is a free pass to a club to see a show. There are lots of comps for Mates of State next week as well.

“Look at me
Look at me
I am somebody’s drunken uncle
We like Simon and Garfunkel

Look at me
Look at me
Look at me
Look at me

Look at me at the festival of gas
One small leak on the mountain pass
Half of crsitanburgs cut in half"

Ratatat, a three member rock band consists of a guitar player, bass player and keyboardist who play songs to a programmed drum beat as I found out last night when they played a forty five minute set of instrumental tunes at 7th St. Entry, while at the same time Built to Spill was playing next door at First Avenue which was made famous by the Prince film “Purple Rain,” before which it was a bus depot which was eventually turned into a disco dancing club called uncle Sam’s, where my parents once went on a date.

9-12-2006

1. I decided to loosely use this style to write a blog because it sounded pretty fun and interesting. I apologize in advance if it's lame. Not all posts will follow the seven basic rules or choices you have while writing in Grammar B. The first five posts will all have the date they were actually written, even though they will still say they were posted on <st1:date year="2006" day="18" month="9">Monday 9-18-2006</st1:date>.

I will concentrate heavily on the current music scene in Minneapolis.
1. Show announcements
2. Concert preview/reviews
3. Photos
4. Possibly interviews
5. Celebrity sightings (creepy)
6. Random babble

Grammar B(asic) Rules.
1. The List - as appearing right now.
2. The fragment - Incorrect sentences. Are what. Fragments are.
3. The labyrinthine sentence - very long sentences, that last forever, and keep going, on and on.
4. Crot. - is a piece of writing that doesn’t fit quite right in the (I love beer) context.
5. Repetition - You'll get this one quick, quick, quick.
6. Double Voice - More than one person talking.
7. Language Variegation - make a looooong word of long, or use a different language.

-Paul Hirte
